In Blackjack, the objective is to try to beat the dealer by getting closer to 21. He does this by placing his bet in the designated space in front of his table position. Face cards (kings, queens and jacks) count as 10, ace counts as one or 11 (as the player chooses) and all other cards are counted at their face value. BLACKJACK - If the player's first two cards are an ace and a 10 or face card, he wins. if the dealer has a blackjack, it is a standoff, as are all ties or pushes. If you have the same card total as the dealer, from 17 and up, you get your bet back in a push as neither have won. DOUBLE DOWN - The player is allowed to double the bet on his first two cards and draw one additional card only to improve his hand. Once all bets are placed, each player and the dealer will receive two cards. Starting to the dealer's left side, the cards are dealt in a round one at a time to each player ending with the dealer receiving his second card face down. Note that at many online casinos, if you split two aces, you get only one additional card for each hand. Jacks, Queens and Kings always have a value of 10. The dealer must draw on 16 and stand on 17. When you think that the dealer has blackjack, it gives you a chance to guard your bet. Once all players have decided to "Stand," the dealer reveals the face down card known as the "Hole" card. If the dealer has blackjack, the insurance pays 2:1, matching the amount of your original bet. If you and the dealer both have blackjack, the game ends in a push.
