Aces have a value of either 1 or 11, face cards as 10 and the cards that are left are valued as their face numbers. Because you can play an Ace either way, a hand with an ace is called a soft hand. if the dealer has a blackjack, it is a standoff, as are all ties or pushes. If you have the same card total as the dealer, from 17 and up, you get your bet back in a push as neither have won. Stand means no more cards (which the player signals by placing his cards under his wager or moving his hand in a horizontal direction. If your hand beats the dealer's hand, you win. DOUBLE DOWN - The player is allowed to double the bet on his first two cards and draw one additional card only to improve his hand. Stand - If you are pleased with your first two cards, you would then stand and not draw anymore cards. Depending on the game, the player's are either dealt their cards face up or face down. Note that at many online casinos, if you split two aces, you get only one additional card for each hand. Card between 2 and 10 simply have their face value regardless of suit. Jacks, Queens and Kings always have a value of 10. Player's add the value of their cards and either decide to "Stick" or "Stand" with their current cards or receive another card, called a "Hit" or "Draw," hopefully raising their total closer to 21 without going over. If the dealer's first card is an ace and if you think that the dealer's hole card is of value 10, you can buy insurance against dealer blackjack. The insurance bet would be at the price of half your original bet. Surrender is not offered at very many online casinos.
