In Blackjack, the objective is to try to beat the dealer by getting closer to 21. Let's take a look at the basic rules of play. Face cards (kings, queens and jacks) count as 10, ace counts as one or 11 (as the player chooses) and all other cards are counted at their face value. Because you can play an Ace either way, a hand with an ace is called a soft hand. A winning blackjack pays the player 3 to 2. Blackjack beats a count of 21. The dealer must draw cards until they have at least 17 and must stand at 17 or higher. Hit - If you are not pleased with the total of your first two cards, you can draw additional card(s) until you stand or bust. Stand - If you are pleased with your first two cards, you would then stand and not draw anymore cards. Once all bets are placed, each player and the dealer will receive two cards. Starting to the dealer's left side, the cards are dealt in a round one at a time to each player ending with the dealer receiving his second card face down. Depending on the game, the player's are either dealt their cards face up or face down. Each card in Blackjack has a certain value. Any other card means a win for the dealer. Insurance is not recommended and is considered a separate game/bet of its own. You can play Blackjack either for fun (Fun Play) or for real money (Real Play) If the dealer's hand is between 17 and 21, he or she may not draw any additional card. If the dealer has blackjack, the insurance pays 2:1, matching the amount of your original bet. If you have purchased insurance and the dealer doesn't have blackjack, you'll lose your insurance bet.
