Face cards (kings, queens and jacks) count as 10, ace counts as one or 11 (as the player chooses) and all other cards are counted at their face value. If the total of your hand is over 21, you'll bust and lose your bet. Going over 21 is called "Busting. If the player hits and busts (goes over 21), he immediately turns his cards over and his wager is lost. Some casinos refer to hitting as draw. After splitting, A-10 counts as 21 and not as blackjack. Depending on the game, the player's are either dealt their cards face up or face down. Each card in Blackjack has a certain value. Any other card means a win for the dealer. An Ace can count as 1 or 11 depending on what is most beneficial to your hand. When surrender is available, if you are not pleased with the cards you were dealt, you may give them up and lose half of your bet.
