Before any cards are dealt, the player must wager. Let's take a look at the basic rules of play. Face cards (kings, queens and jacks) count as 10, ace counts as one or 11 (as the player chooses) and all other cards are counted at their face value. BLACKJACK - If the player's first two cards are an ace and a 10 or face card, he wins. If the total of your hand is over 21, you'll bust and lose your bet. The object of the game is to obtain a hand of cards totaling up to 21 or as close to 21 as possible without going over. Going over 21 is called "Busting. The dealer must draw cards until they have at least 17 and must stand at 17 or higher. If your hand beats the dealer's hand, you win. DOUBLE DOWN - The player is allowed to double the bet on his first two cards and draw one additional card only to improve his hand. SPLITTING PAIRS - If the first two cards a player is dealt are a pair, he may split them into two separate hands, bet the same amount on each and then play them separately. Once all bets are placed, each player and the dealer will receive two cards. Starting to the dealer's left side, the cards are dealt in a round one at a time to each player ending with the dealer receiving his second card face down. Split - If your first two cards are of the same value, you can split them into two separate hands by placing a second bet of equal value and drawing cards as usual. Note that at many online casinos, if you split two aces, you get only one additional card for each hand. Card between 2 and 10 simply have their face value regardless of suit. Jacks, Queens and Kings always have a value of 10. Insurance is not recommended and is considered a separate game/bet of its own. You can play Blackjack either for fun (Fun Play) or for real money (Real Play) If the dealer has blackjack, the insurance pays 2:1, matching the amount of your original bet. Surrender is not offered at very many online casinos.
