In Blackjack, the objective is to try to beat the dealer by getting closer to 21. He does this by placing his bet in the designated space in front of his table position. The dealer then deals two cards to each of the players, and two to himself (one of the dealer's cards is dealt face up and one is dealt facing down) Aces have a value of either 1 or 11, face cards as 10 and the cards that are left are valued as their face numbers. Because you can play an Ace either way, a hand with an ace is called a soft hand. If the total of your hand is over 21, you'll bust and lose your bet. If you have the same card total as the dealer, from 17 and up, you get your bet back in a push as neither have won. HIT or STAND - Hit means to draw another card (which the player signifies by scraping the table with his cards or a similar hand motion) If the player hits and busts (goes over 21), he immediately turns his cards over and his wager is lost. Some casinos refer to hitting as draw. SPLITTING PAIRS - If the first two cards a player is dealt are a pair, he may split them into two separate hands, bet the same amount on each and then play them separately. If you have been dealt two cards and think that a third card may give you a chance to beat the dealer's hand, you can double down. Each card in Blackjack has a certain value. When you split two aces and one of your hands totals 21, this is not blackjack, it's 21. An Ace can count as 1 or 11 depending on what is most beneficial to your hand. You can play Blackjack either for fun (Fun Play) or for real money (Real Play) Once all players have decided to "Stand," the dealer reveals the face down card known as the "Hole" card. The insurance bet would be at the price of half your original bet. If the dealer has blackjack, the insurance pays 2:1, matching the amount of your original bet. When surrender is available, if you are not pleased with the cards you were dealt, you may give them up and lose half of your bet.
