Before any cards are dealt, the player must wager. He does this by placing his bet in the designated space in front of his table position. If you have a blackjack hand, you win 3:2 times your bet (example - a $5 bet will win $7.50), as long as the dealer does not have blackjack. Aces have a value of either 1 or 11, face cards as 10 and the cards that are left are valued as their face numbers. If the total of your hand is over 21, you'll bust and lose your bet. The object of the game is to obtain a hand of cards totaling up to 21 or as close to 21 as possible without going over. HIT or STAND - Hit means to draw another card (which the player signifies by scraping the table with his cards or a similar hand motion) The dealer must draw cards until they have at least 17 and must stand at 17 or higher. If the player hits and busts (goes over 21), he immediately turns his cards over and his wager is lost. Stand - If you are pleased with your first two cards, you would then stand and not draw anymore cards. Aces receive only one additional card. Split - If your first two cards are of the same value, you can split them into two separate hands by placing a second bet of equal value and drawing cards as usual. If the dealer's down card is a 10 or any face card, the player wins 2 to 1. Card between 2 and 10 simply have their face value regardless of suit. Insurance is not recommended and is considered a separate game/bet of its own. Player's add the value of their cards and either decide to "Stick" or "Stand" with their current cards or receive another card, called a "Hit" or "Draw," hopefully raising their total closer to 21 without going over.
